Victorian Era Inspired

Soulful Cottage

There is an energy, vibration and resonance with the land in Daylesford that makes my soul yearn for a feeling, a place, a home that once was.

It's not something that can be expressed or explained in a logical manner. How do you explain land that call's to your soul?!

Everything about and that is connected with Hiraeth Daylesford feels divinely guided. I feel truly blessed to have been guided to this particular parcel of land AND to now be bringing my dream to life of creating a soulful cottage, designed with an intentional owner experience.

To say that I'm excited to share the journey with you, is an understatement!!!!

own development

A blend of home sickness, nostalgia and longing, 'HIRAETH' is a pull on the heart that conveys a distinct feeling of missing something irretrievably lost.

It may have been once of this world, yet now it is no longer, whether through the basic passage of time, or even deeper, perhaps it is of something we once had, but in this life do not, yet the longing, the Hiraeth remains.

When I'm designing, it ALWAYS starts with knowing how I want the space to feel, who will be using it, how they'll be using it AND the human experience I desire capture/provide.

Essentially, they are parts of puzzle pieces that come together to form a fluid Design Brief.  And it's from this Design Brief that the concept design is born.

There have been SOOOO many design iterations over the last few years.  AND none of the many design concepts ever felt truly resolved.

The funny thing is, the moment I received confirmation of finances being locked in....... the final pieces of the concept design effortlessly fell into place.  It was like the design was waiting to know that this was serious and was actually going to be able to be built, before it revealed the final design puzzle pieces.

Concept Design

Here's a topic I'm extremely passionate about and could speak on for hours!  But I won't.  Other than to share that, it's a team of professionals that bring the design, documentation + construction phases of a new build or renovation to life.

Each professional will obviously champion their own lane.  But at the end of the day things come together because of a group of professionals co-creating together as a team.

There are so many different views + opinions on what this looks like (team working together).  All of which I speak about in the video on the right hand side.

Builder Engaged

You hear so many horror stories about Town Planning applications and approvals.  The time that it takes, the changes and further information that will be requested.  So it's no wonder that people approach the journey with their breath held, braced for the worst.

That's not the experience I wanted to have.  So I chose to enter the Town Planning journey with the mindset of "I'm going to have some fun".  Everything from the application cover letter through to the communication with the Town Planner's was guided by "This is going to be fun".

Town Planning

engaging builder early!

just chillin as I wait for town planning approval.

I also was optimistically holding the vision of approval being received within 4mths AND silently preparing for 6-7mths, just in case.

Turns out I was wrong on both counts.  From application being lodged to receipt of approval, it was a total of 9.5 weeks!!!!!!  Gosh the overflow of tears when I opened the email to discover I was in receipt of my approval.
